Breakroom breakdown is a four-part photo series done in 2024 that was meant to capture the phycological unraveling of an office worker trapped in monotony and overwork. Through a subtle shift in postures and expressions, the series portrays the arc from different stages of fatigue and disassociation. The first picture, Head Smash, conveys the feeling of phycological drain and not knowing what to do with your thoughts. He tries to squeeze his head in the printer’s scanner compartment. In the second picture, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, due to the repetitive data he tries to burn the data papers in the microwave at work. Data, Data, Data, showcases him going a tad crazy as he is using a pen to circle things and underline things even though the whole page has the same thing over and over – Data. Lastly, Unwind, gives to me an eerie sense. It is the worker having a moment of ease for just a second and could be interpreted as a funeral almost. He is laying down as if he were in a casket.
Overall, hiding his face was intentional through the whole thing. It was to add more suspense but to also allow the audience to focus to the meaning behind the craft of the piece and not the model.
